There is a lot of noise and uncertainty in the world at the moment, and I feel drawn to create a small additional space where nature’s beauty can be felt and taken in, a little online patch of garden. We may not be able to control the whole climate, but we can nurture what is within our reach.
I keep coming back to taking things day by day. Staying steady in what feels true. Choosing kindness where we can, not because it fixes everything, but because it shapes the space immediately around us. I think of it like tending a small patch of garden.
Over the past few days my attention has been drawn to the snowdrops in my garden, almost as a reflection of my own world. At times they have seemed fragile and bowed low, almost touching the ground, as if the wet, damp cold weather we’ve been having was asking too much of them. With the couple of days of sunshine we’ve just had, they now stand upright and steady again, their heads gently bowed in their usual manner, with quiet strength and grace.
Snowdrops are among the first flowers to appear towards the end of winter. Their conditions aren’t what we would call perfect, yet they arrive anyway. Showing up and pushing through frost-hardened ground, doing what they have come here to do.
Snowdrops symbolise new beginnings, hope, rebirth, and the capacity to triumph over challenges. They are simple, unassuming flowers that carry a quiet positivity through tough times.
I hope that whatever challenges you may be facing right now, you find a moment to pause, draw in a slightly deeper breath, and allow yourself to stand tall, even if you are still gently bowed.
Right now, I feel like a snowdrop 😊
You never know how strong you are,
until being strong is your only choice.
